Money saving tips for the next car financing deal you sign

Money saving tips for the next car financing deal you sign

You walk into a car dealership. There on the showroom floor is the most beautiful car you've ever seen. Checking it over, you can see that the vehicle is in perfect condition, offers all the features you want, and is the perfect color, too. So you pull out your checkbook and write in a substantial down payment amount with the intent of financing the balance.
But wait!

Before you agree to the sticker price, which means that you will likely have a hefty monthly payment for the next few years, take a little bit of time to get the lowest price and best terms possible.

1. Negotiate on the asking price. If you have a trade-in vehicle, try not to mention it until you have gotten the sticker price lowered. Then mention your trade-in. Chances are you won't get much for it, or the salesperson will ask you up front if you have a car to trade in. Still, it's worth a shot that can reduce the final price by hundreds or thousands of dollars.

2. Watch for sales events. Sometimes you can get a great deal on the car you've been wanting by waiting for an end-of-year sale when the dealership lowers prices to get rid of old to make way for the new. Often these events feature lower financing rates as well. Why pay 5.9% now when, by waiting a few weeks, you may be able to get 1.9%?

3. Beware of bait and switch. Unscrupulous dealers sometimes advertise a tantalizing deal, only to exchange it for one that is less satisfying when the customer comes to the dealership and picks out a car to buy. Instead of 1.9%, they'll now give you 3.9% financing unless you have a co-signer. Or instead of $500 off, you can have $200 off due to the fact that the sales car is no longer available. Insist on getting the car you came for and the terms that were advertised. If the dealership won't comply, go elsewhere.

4. Shop at the right time. During a sales event, try to visit the dealership toward the end of the day, at the end of the month, at the end of the sale. Many sales staff are eager to make that one last sale to bump up their sales record and possibly win a company bonus. Go in prepared to make the deal you want and don't compromise.

5. Check your . Get a copy of your credit report before financing a new car to be sure it won't raise red flags for the car dealership's financing backer. You don't want a $15 forgotten bill from five years ago to become the tiny glitch that the dealership can use to hoist your financing fees or interest rate.

If you plan to keep your car for several years, put a little thought and planning into your shopping expedition. Browse dealerships online to find the vehicle you want and can afford. Go the dealership only when you feel confident about the actual car you intend to buy, the amount of your down payment, and the financing terms you will agree to. Good luck!

Household money saving tips: how to cut heating costs this winter

Household money saving tips: how to cut heating costs this winter

One of the easiest ways to limit heating costs is to set your thermostat a few degrees lower. Doing so can save you an estimated two to three percent per degree over the season. Bundle up a little more at home and fix the temperature somewhere between 68 and 70 degrees. However, do not turn off the heat altogether while you are away. Doing so will allow your home's temperature to drop near that of the outdoors and will take more energy to reheat. Instead, cut back the thermostat about ten degrees while you are at work, returning it to normal once you get home. If you shudder at the thought of being welcomed home from work by a frigid house, invest in a programmable thermostat, which can be set to run at different temperatures at different times of the day.
Another quick and inexpensive way to conserve heat is to insulate properly. Although anyone would laugh at the idea of leaving a window open in December, few realize that incorrectly sealed doors and windows are just as bad for conserving heat. Place weather stripping at the base of drafty entryways, even if the gap is barely visible. Seal windows with caulk to keep out chilly air and hold in warmth. These jobs should be done before the temperature drops too low, since weather barriers adhere poorly in cold weather. If you are willing to make a larger investment, replace old windows with double-paned models, which will drastically improve your home's temperature efficiency throughout the year. Many newer panes are treated with UV ray resistant coatings, which keep summer heat from seeping in.

How to Clean a Computer

How to Clean a Computer

Computers are part of our daily lives. When a computer goes out of commission, productivity comes to a halt. Cleaning your computer is a good preventative measure that can help keep it running. Cleaning all of the elements of your computer can seem daunting, but if taken one piece at a time, you can clean your computer easily and quickly.

Step1
Shut down your computer and remove all peripherals such as monitor, mouse, keyboard and speakers.

Step2

Begin with the monitor. Use special computer monitor cleaning solution or wipes. You can find these at many large retail stores or electronic stores. Always apply solution to a smooth, clean, non-abrasive cloth and never directly to the monitor. You can use a cloth that is slightly damp with plain water for a quick cleaning.

Step3

Clean the keyboard. Flip the keyboard over and lightly tap it to dislodge dust and anything that may have fallen between the keys. Use a can of compressed air to clean between the keys. Use a damp cloth or cotton swabs to clean the keys. You can use cleaning solution, but apply to the cloth instead of spraying it onto the keyboard.

Step4

Continue on to the mouse. If you have an optical mouse, you just need to wipe it down and make sure that the bottom is unobstructed. If you have a mouse with a ball or a tracker ball mouse, you need to take the ball out, clean it, and then take a toothpick or pin and clean the grime off of the rollers. Reassemble the mouse when you're done. Use a toothpick or pin to clean the *****s around the edge and buttons of the mouse.

Step5

Open your computer’s casing and clean inside it. This is the most delicate part so be careful. Use compressed air to blow away the dust. Pay special attention to the areas around the fan, any vents on the side, and the motherboard. You can find a miniature vacuum cleaner that you can use to clean out the dust. Do not use anything liquid inside your computer.

Westlife lyrics

WESTLIFE LYRICS

"Miss You"

I can't sleep,
I just can't breathe,
when your shadow is all over me, baby.
Don't wanna be a fool in your eyes,
'Cause what we had was built on lies.

And when our love seems to fade away,
Listen to me - hear what I say...

I don't wanna feel the way that I do,
I just wanna be right here with you,
I don't wanna see, see us apart,
I just wanna say it straight from my heart:
I miss you...

What would it take for you to see?
To make you understand,
that I'll always believe (always believe)
You and I can make it through,
And I still know I can't get over you.

'Cause when our love seems to fade away,
Listen to me - hear what I say...

I don't wanna feel the way that I do,
I just wanna be right here with you,
I don't wanna see, see us apart (see us apart)
I just wanna say it straight from my heart:
oh, baby I miss you, I do...

'Cause when our love always fades away,
Listen to me - hear what I say...

I don't wanna feel the way that I do,
I just wanna be right here with you,
I don't wanna see, see us apart, (oh no, see us apart)
I just wanna say it straight from my heart:
I miss you, I miss you, I do...

I don't wanna feel the way that I do (the way that I do)
I just wanna be (just wanna be) right here with you (right here with you)
I don't wanna see (don't wanna see) see us apart (see us apart, oh, baby)
I just wanna say it straight from my heart:
oh baby I miss you, I do...

Do it yourself: how to waterproof canvas

Do it yourself: how to waterproof canvas

Water, sun and other elements can ruin any outdoor fabric. Mildew, in particular, is a threat to all outdoor cloth and is usually impossible to remove. Mildew normally occurs when items are allowed to get wet and dry slowly, again and again. Since canvas is a fabric often found in outdoor usage such as tarps and tents, it’s a good idea to waterproof it to prevent mildew and dry-rot from occurring. A small piece of canvas can be spread out onto a table and treated, but for a large piece, you might need to use the kitchen floor, or your outside There are several different ways to waterproof the canvas pieces. After smoothing them out, you can use wax for waterproofing. Blocks of wax can be rubbed onto the canvas, giving a thick coating of waterproofing, the natural way. One problem with wax is that it is difficult to get it into areas like corners and up against welt. Shave a piece of wax to a point and use this to go under and over the welt and to push into corners. Another problem with wax is the way it feels. On furniture, wax can make it difficult to slide in and out of the chair. In addition, wax can sometimes change the appearance of the canvas fabric. Overall, the wax method is not the best choice for a reliable waterproofing treatment.
A better way to treat canvas is by using a spray that is available at camping stores or department stores. You might have to use several cans of the spray to treat the entire canvas piece, and each can is about $3 - $5. Each can will do approximately 200 to 250 square feet. These sprays coat the canvas with silicone to prevent the water from sticking or soaking in. Check the label to make sure that the formula is safe for fire retardant fabrics. To apply, use gloves and spray in a well-ventilated, but not windy, area and spray in rows to make it easier to see spots you might have missed. Make sure to do the edges well and even flip the edges up to cover the under edge. After allowing plenty of drying time, re-treat the canvas for extra protection against rain damage. If you have lawn furniture, remove the cushions and after they are well cleaned and dry, treat them with the waterproofing spray. Be sure to do the underneath of the cushions as well as the top and the band. For outdoor umbrellas, spray the upside of the umbrella and the underside as well. Repeat after drying. Although many people use water seal, meant for sealing wood products, to treat their canvas, this is not recommended by the manufacturers or by some who’ve tried it. The common complaint is that it does not allow the fabric to breathe and instead, causes the pores of the fabric to become clogged.

To make your own waterproofing formula, mix 8 fl oz of soya bean oil and 4 fl oz of turpentine. In a medium container, mix the two liquids well. This formula can be poured into a squirt bottle for easy application, or a sponge or cloth can be used to spread the liquid onto the canvas. You can also use a paint brush or paint roller to apply the solution. The recipe for this waterproofing is for one application, but it is recommended that you let the first application dry and then re-apply. Use for awnings, patio furniture, boat covers, tarps and tents. Store leftovers in a cool place and clearly label the container. Keep away from children and pets.

Yet another homemade waterproofing treatment requires you to dissolve a pound of laundry soap in two gallons of hot water, then stir until well dissolved. Soak the canvas in the mixture until well saturated. Squeeze out some excess liquid, then hang up or lay in the sun to dry. After drying completely, prepare the second dip for the canvas by dissolving a half pound of alum in two gallons of Soak the tent again and saturate it completely, leaving in the solution for at least a couple of hours. Squeeze out some excess and again set out to dry. When canvas is fully treated, it is ready for outdoor use, but you might need to reapply after tremendous rains or after several weeks of usage.

10 (More) Reasons You're Not Rich

10 (More) Reasons You're Not Rich

Many people assume they aren't rich because they don't earn enough money. If I only earned a little more, I could save and invest better, they say.
The problem with that theory is they were probably making exactly the same argument before their last several raises. Becoming a millionaire has less to do with how much you make, it's how you treat money in your daily life.

The list of reasons you may not be rich doesn't end at 10. Caring what your neighbors think, not being patient, having bad habits, not having goals, not being prepared, trying to make a quick buck, relying on others to handle your money, investing in things you don't understand, being financially afraid and ignoring your finances.
Here are 10 more possible reasons you aren't rich:

You care what your car looks like: A car is a means of transportation to get from one place to another, but many people don't view it that way. Instead, they consider it a reflection of themselves and spend money every two years or so to impress others instead of driving the car for its entire useful life and investing the money saved.

You feel entitlement: If you believe you deserve to live a certain lifestyle, have certain things and spend a certain amount before you have earned to live that way, you will have to borrow money. That large chunk of debt will keep you from building wealth.
You lack diversification: There is a reason one of the oldest pieces of financial advice is to not keep all your eggs in a single basket. Having a diversified investment portfolio makes it much less likely that wealth will suddenly disappear.
You started too late: The magic of compound interest works best over long periods of time. If you find you're always saying there will be time to save and invest in a couple more years, you'll wake up one day to find retirement is just around the corner and there is still nothing in your retirement account.
You don't do what you enjoy: While your job doesn't necessarily need to be your dream job, you need to enjoy it. If you choose a job you don't like just for the money, you'll likely spend all that extra cash trying to relieve the stress of doing work you hate.
You don't like to learn: You may have assumed that once you graduated from college, there was no need to study or learn. That attitude might be enough to get you your first job or keep you employed, but it will never make you rich. A willingness to learn to improve your career and finances are essential if you want to eventually become wealthy.
You buy things you don't use: Take a look around your house, in the closets, basement, attic and garage and see if there are a lot of things you haven't used in the past year. If there are, chances are that all those things you purchased were wasted money that could have been used to increase your net worth.
You don't understand value: You buy things for any number of reasons besides the value that the purchase brings to you. This is not limited to those who feel the need to buy the most expensive items, but can also apply to those who always purchase the cheapest goods. Rarely are either the best value, and it's only when you learn to purchase good value that you have money left over to invest for your future.

Your house is too big: When you buy a house that is bigger than you can afford or need, you end up spending extra money on longer debt payments, increased taxes, higher upkeep and more things to fill it. Some people will try to argue that the increased value of the house makes it a good investment, but the truth is that unless you are willing to downgrade your living standards, which most people are not, it will never be a liquid asset or money that you can ever use and enjoy.
You fail to take advantage of opportunities: There has probably been more than one occasion where you heard about someone who has made it big and thought to yourself, "I could have thought of that." There are plenty of opportunities if you have the will and determination to keep your eyes open.
