Accessible to all

While I was pleased to find that a full text version of PC Advisor is available through Talking Newspapers and Magazines (tnauk.org.uk), as a vision-impaired person am unable to access your digital content through Zinio. Zinio Reader doesn't work with a screen reader, and its iPhone app isn't Voice Over-compatible. But Zinio isn't responsible for making content accessible. It's time the publishing industry began taking vision-impaired people seriously, presenting us with the same content that is available to sighted readers. I don't see why all magazines can't be converted into protected PDF files. Larry McAspurn, Flax (guide dog) and Elliot (retired guide dog) Rosemary Hattersley, associate editor, replies: I agree that we should be doing all we can to make our content accessible to those who take an interest in it. I have previously reported on accessibility issues, and spent time with people who have a range of physical impairments looking at how technology can help. However, you are more gualified than I to comment on whether any such 'enabling' technologies are of practical use. IE]
